On The Tower of Babel II, 2013
“On the Tower of Babel”, an annotated translation of the biblical story found in Genesis, chapter 11, verses 1-9, was written in the summer of 2006 at the Banff Centre for the Arts. The annotated translation is presented in this installation at the Jackman Humanities Institute, University of Toronto, as vinyl wall text, together with one Hebrew word from each verse. Each of these words is presented as a printmaking chase, as though ready to go on a letterpress. The individual letters are wooden block printing letters, likely at least a hundred years old.
